Weight-loss surgery brings risk of iron deficiency

on

We were just talking about iron deficiency in post-ops at the Portland Baltasar Support Group Meeting this morning.  This study that is referenced in the article speaks specifically toward RNY (gastric bypass) – and doesn’t include DS in the findings.  It would be interesting to know what percentage of DS’ers end up being clinically classified as being iron deficient during the first 18 months after surgery.  Hmmm…  maybe I’ll have to start keeping track!

Interesting read!
